Welcome to the Land of Weckies!

  Dear Second Grade Families,

Welcome to the land of Weckies (and welcome to our Blog)! I am so excited to call your child one of my own this year, a Weckie! Can you believe how fast this summer has flown by? Let me take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Jennifer Weckstein (formerly Phillips, I got married two years ago). I have spent the past eight years at Dublin where I have taught Kindergarten, Second and Fourth Grade. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with your child in second grade this coming school year. I have been eager to see many familiar faces and to meet many new faces.

Let me tell you a little more about myself I enjoy spending time with my husband Dan, our good friends and our families. We even have a little white dog named Nolan! I consider myself to be a pretty big Red Wings fan and a diehard Spartan. This summer I have traveled to California to visit my sister in L.A., New York and Maryland to visit family and to our summer getaway in Charlevoix! I have also been pretty active this summer: running, biking, hiking and swimming with friends and family! We even learned how to paddleboard this summer out on Walled Lake too! What have you been doing this summer? Have you gone on any neat trips or been to any fun places? Have you learned how to do something new?

We will be having a PTA sponsored Welcome Back Picnic at Dublin on Friday, September 7th on the playground at Dublin from 5-7:00pm. We will also be having a "Parents Only" Curriculum Night on Tuesday, September 11th starting at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria and moving into the classroom from 7-8pm.

I also wanted to make you aware that our classroom is PEANUT FREE this year for the safety of all of our children. We do have a peanut allergy in our classroom, so I ask that all treats and snacks coming into the room be peanut free. Thank you for your help with this!

I can easily be reached in the classroom at (248) 956-3864 or by email at JenniferPhillips@wlcsd.org. Please make note that my email uses my maiden name. My sister-in-law teaches at Hickory Woods and she is another Jennifer Weckstein!
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time. I look forward to an exciting year working with you and your child!
Your Partner in Learning,

Jen Weckstein
